1.-What does Llan de Cubel mean?

Throughout the history of the group many people (organizers, receptionists,...) have tried to change our name. The list of new names is quite long and there are many different styles: peculiar and picturesque as in "Yann de Cubells", absurd, as in "Llan del Fumé" and ingenious as that given by a receptionist who spoke some French and renamed us "Jean de Coubelle" (there are documents to prove it!)

Anyway, Llan de Cubel is the name of a mountain 678m high in the Sierra de Árgoma which divides the counties of Pravia and Cuideiru and is located very close to the sea. The etymology of "Llan de" comes from the Asturian word llende o llinde which means limit or border and is used to define mountains, villages, hamlets, etc. which normally delimit old grazing areas, in this way we find the following names in Asturies: Llendepín, Llandecarballo, Llandemires, etc...

The mountain Llan de Cubel presided over the first rehearsals of the group in Cuideiru from close by and from there ...

2.-Where did you get the logo?

The group's logo, which you can see at the bottom of this and other pages, is a wild boar piper. You will find this charming boar piper if you visit the cathedral in Uviéu and carefully observe the engravings on the gothic wooden seating. You can also find a rabbit playing the pipes and other funny little animals engaged in various, not particularly pious endeavours, quite promiscuous in fact.

3.-Where can I find Llan de Cubel's records?

There is a virtual shop in the Internet where you can buy our records. The address is: www.asturshop.com
